The great Furious Styles once said, “I don’t know why you insist on learning things the hard way, but you gon’ learn. Oh yeah, you gon’ learn.” Though he was talking to light skin Tre, he might as well been talking to the hip-hop community about carrying guns in New York.
Cory Gunz, real name Peter Pankey (what the hell?), was arrested this weekend for having a loaded gun in his knapsack. In New York possession of a loaded gun is a felony that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of three and a half years in prison, though the offender can often plea down and do Lil’ Wayne time. Still, it’s hard to make music in prison where your only source of creativity is weed that was boofed in the joint via Big Los’ ass cheeks.
From the New York Daily News:
Cory Gunz and his dad recently started a campaign called “Gunz Against Guns” where they speak at schools across the Bronx to steer kids away from the deadly weapons, Peter Gunz said.
”It’s heartbreaking,” Peter Gunz said. “Now I know how my father felt when I had the exact situation.”
Peter was referring to a gun possession arrest he faced – also when he was 24 years old. “It’s like deja vu all over again and now I got a taste of the same medicine that I gave my dad when he was sitting in the court.”
The Pankey family had an anti-gun program in the schools? Sh*t makes me think my D.A.R.E. officer might have been moving weight, or maybe my sex ed teacher, Mr. Clapp, had gonorrhea.

I absolutely do not regret him. He got, what he deserved. This should be expected.
